- 3 Day 2 Night
Materuni Waterfalls Nestled in the lush foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, the picturesque village of Materuni is renowned for its rich coffee, grown in the perfect climate and soil. On this aromatic journey, you’ll visit a local coffee farm where you’ll learn about the entire coffee process—from cultivation to roasting—and even try your hand at preparing your own cup of coffee in the traditional Chagga style.
After your coffee experience, enjoy a scenic 45-minute hike through vibrant coffee and banana plantations, crossing ridges and streams as you make your way to the breathtaking Materuni Falls. The falls, tucked away in a pristine valley with cliffs towering above, offer the perfect spot to cool off with a swim in the tranquil pool below the cascading waters.
Along the hike, your guide will share fascinating insights into the local flora, explaining how various plants are used for food and traditional medicine. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the Chagga people’s culture and lifestyle, making this an immersive and enriching experience.
You will have two options for transport between Moshi town and the village… For those who wish to have the ‘real’ experience, you can hop on a dala dala (the local minibusses. If you’d prefer to travel more quickly and comfortably you can choose to take a private car. Once you reach the village you will start your coffee tour at a traditional Chaggah ‘shamba’.
Here your guide will explain all aspects of the Chaggah homestead including the other crops that they grow aside from coffee. You will get to see how the coffee is produced- from picking the bean to roasting and then drinking a delicious cup yourself. Following your coffee tour you will then take a short hike (make sure to wear some sports or Mountain boot, shoes as it can be muddy up there), passing through local villages to reach the waterfalls.
You will either have a picnic lunch box or arrive at a full spread of freshly cooked lunch prepared for one of the local families, Following lunch you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the refreshing(quite cold!) pools beneath the waterfalls. It was a dream we had for a long time, and finally making it to the top was something we’ll never forget. The climb was challenging and we did reach the summit definitely thank to our awesome guides. Without them and the rest of the crew, we wouldn't have made it! Our team was amazing, they were all so kind, patient and experienced - they truly made all the difference. They knew when to push us and when to let us rest. They kept us motivated and safe, and always had a smile or a joke ready to lift our spirits. If you're thinking about doing something epic - go for it! Kilimanjaro tested us, inspired us and gave us memories we’ll carry forever.Posted on Sara A2025-04-10Verified Mount Meru Dream Just got back from climbing Mount Meru in Tanzania, and wow — what a trip. This experience will stay with me forever. Mount Meru isn’t as famous as Kilimanjaro and honestly it was super cool. No other tourists, way more peace, and still a crazy beautiful and challenging climb. It’s 4,566 meters high, so it’s no joke, but the route is stunning from start to finish. We started in thick rainforest, surrounded by monkeys and birds, then climbed into alpine more landscapes with insane views. The summit day was tough but also not so tough, de arrived to the top just as the sun came up.. Unreal. Kilimanjaro off in the distance, clouds below us, golden light everywhere. It felt like another planet. The team I had, Amos and his guys, were absolute stars. Super friendly, knew every inch of the mountain, and kept the vibes high even when my legs were screaming. Always keeping me safe and confident. If you’re thinking of climbing in Tanzania, wether mount Meru or Kilimanjaro, well I can’t recommend this team enough. Beautiful experienced human beings. They will make sure you have the best time! Missing Tanzania a lot already!Posted on Bruno J2025-04-09Verified The best experience in kilimanjaro Me and my wife did the kilimanjaro treck with them and it was the best week!
